How Long Does It Take To Become A Reiki Master?
Initially, I started practicing reiki self-healing as an advanced form of meditation. I loved it so much that I wanted to continue learning about reiki, start healing family members, and become an expert in energy healing. This made me wonder, how long does it take to become a reiki master?
It takes a minimum of 2 years to become a Reiki master. Even though there are courses that last 2 days to get all the information, you need 6 months to understand and really grasp the teachings of level 1 reiki. It takes another 6 months as well for level 2 reiki. Then it takes 1 year to practice and finish reiki master level 3.
What Is The Difference Between Reiki Practitioner And Reiki Master?
A reiki practitioner is able to practice energy healing on clients by only learning and getting attunements from the first 2 levels of reiki. These two levels and attunements can be learned and done in 2 days, even though it’s a short period of time to truly understand and practice reiki.
A reiki master has completed the 3 levels of reiki with all the attunements including the Usui master symbol. Reiki masters have a deeper understanding of reiki and are more experienced in practicing energy healing. When you become a reiki master, you get a bigger sense of respect and reverence towards the universal life force.
The biggest difference between reiki practitioners and reiki masters is that only reiki masters can teach reiki to students.
Can Anyone Become A Reiki Master?
Yes, anyone can become a reiki master if he or she is willing to show dedication towards the universal life force and practice meditation on a daily basis. Meditation is very important to adapt and focus reiki energy in order to provide true healing.
You will have to completely surrender to the universal life force and live in continuous personal growth if you want to become a reiki master.
What Does A Reiki Master Do?
A reiki master has completed the three levels of reiki training and practiced reiki for a couple of years. This knowledge allows a reiki master to do healing on himself or a client in less time than a reiki practitioner. It takes 1 hour or less per session to complete the healing of the day.
For each healing session, the reiki master will unblock energy passageways (chakras) and emotional blockages by channeling energy from the universal life force with the use of hand placements and reiki symbols.
The experience gained by a reiki master also allows him or her to teach reiki energy healing to students who want to become reiki masters.
Reiki Master Salary
Salaries vary around the world. In the United States alone, reiki masters earn different salaries in different states.

Reiki Master Training
Before you decide to become a reiki master, you should understand how the reiki master training works and get familiar with the 3 levels of reiki. Each level requires an attunement from a reiki master. Without the attunements, you won’t be able to practice reiki as you will not be in the right vibration to channel the universal life force energy.
Reiki Level 1
This is the introduction to reiki were you learn the reiki principles and get an understanding of how energy healing works. In this level of reiki, you will be able to start practicing self-healing with reiki basics.

Reiki Level 2
This second level will teach you how to become a reiki practitioner by showing you how to do energy healing on other people and introduce you to the reiki symbols which can be used to practice distance healing.

Keep in mind that even though you have completed reiki levels 1 and 2, you still need to get the attunements in order to raise your vibration. Without the attunements, you can’t become a reiki practitioner and heal other people.
Reiki Level 3
This is the most complex level of reiki and requires a minimum of 1 year to complete. Level 3 reiki is divided into two parts. In the first part, you transcend from a student to a master and in the second part, you learn how to teach reiki.
Reiki Master Certification
To offer reiki energy healing services as a reiki master you must get certified to prove you know what you are doing and for your client to trust you are providing healing.
There are many courses that offer a reiki master certification online, but you should always look for a licensed reiki master who is trustworthy. Before getting your certification, your reiki master teacher has to perform all the attunements required for each level of reiki. Also, I would suggest for you to be mindful of the after effects from these attunements.
The best place to find a great reiki master teacher and get a certification is the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) which has a complete list of licensed reiki master teachers all around the world.
Once you received your reiki training and got certified, you should go to the next level and get officially licensed as a reiki master.
Reiki Master License
This is the next step on your reiki training which will not only make you a better healer, but it will also increase your salary as a reiki master. Think of it as getting a master’s degree in reiki energy healing.
You can get this unique license provided only by the ICRT which offers the Licensed Reiki Master Teacher Training Program (LRMTTP). The most advanced master training program in the world. As a requirement, you have to be a teaching reiki master for a minimum of 2 years to apply for this program and it will take 1000 hours in the course of 4 years to complete the program.
It can feel like a long time, but if you are serious about becoming a reiki master and want to get a deeper understanding of the universal life force, you should take this program.
